…and that always spells disaster for my bank account.
I love &OS – for those that don’t know, they are the middle child in the H&M family, with Cos at the top in terms of both out there aesthetic and price point. For me, the quality of &OS outstrips H&M, but their styles are on the more wearable end of the spectrum from Cos (especially for those of us sadly not built like beanpoles).
From bitter experience, I’ve discovered it’s far better to order everything you like from their sale straight away (it can always be returned…) rather than doddle, as things sell out really quickly (especially their leather handbags, which are always well discounted).
I ordered quite a few bits this time round – some work items, some accessories. As you can see, I’m still favouring the more muted colour palette, but I loved the splash of yellow in the bag. I’m really excited to receive my order through, as I’ve always been really impressed with the quality of things from &OS.
One thing they didn’t have, that I am on the look out for, is a dove grey trench – I think that would tie together so many things in my wardrobe (and wouldn’t it look beautiful against the splash of yellow?) Leave a comment below if you’ve seen anything like that out at the moment.
I will no doubt be back on, in case they add any new items. Addicted – moi?…
I’ve been steering clear of the sales in the last week or two, as sadly it’s been a bumper month with both car insurance and gym membership renewals up.
But two things I genuinely do need are a new black coat and leather bag. I still haven’t found a bag I like (picky? me…?) but last night I did stumble upon a gorgeous black coat that fulfils my very specific brief, the Katy Fur Collar Coat from Oasis. I seem to be a proper sucker for fake fur at the moment – if you’re a tactile person, it just feels so lovely and comforting.
This set me back £45 – which for a black coat I’m very happy with – as long as the quality is decent when it arrives, it’s work as a brilliant cost-per-wear ratio!
Perusing Twitter the other day, I was rather too excited to see Oasis were having a sale – the last few times I’d ordered from Oasis, I hadn’t been completely bowled over by the quality, in comparison to items from French Connection and & Other Stories. I’d felt a big different in the finish and fabric of pieces, however they are at different price points on the high street and they did have a few items I fancied ordering for a closer look at…
On the whole, I think the theme is clear – neutrals, neutrals, neutrals. I’m in the process of trying to make my wardrobe less crammed with stuff and more ‘capsule’. I’ve also become obsessed with black, grey and white with the odd bit of animal print to add some interest. I think the tops could be dressed up for work, or worn casually with jeans or a leather mini skirt for a more casual weekend outfit.
I really love the taupey-grey colours that are in at the moment – I think they’re just that little bit more chic that standard grey or black but are still neutral enough to work with almost anything. I also love the pop of bright pink in the striped top, and I think makes it looks more expensive that it is – always a good thing when working to a tight budget!
Have any sale bargains caught your eye lately?
When I passed my driving test a couple of months ago, I decided all those nerves and hard work deserved a treat (any justification…), and I bought this beautiful purple suede bag from ASOS.
This bucket-style of bag is very on-trend at the moment, with it’s slouchy casual shape. As soon as I saw this, I fell in absolutely love with the vibrant shade of fuschia purple. My wardrobe is becoming increasingly monochrome and I love to accessorize with bright accessories to add a bit of interest – and I’m always a sucker for anything suede.
The Miss Selfridge sale started today and I thought I’d live vicariously and post my top sale picks, as well as the few bits and pieces I actually picked up.
After Fleur de Force featured this beautiful grey beaded top in a haul video, I immediately went on to the Miss Selfridge website to see if it was still in stock – sadly, when I got there I saw it was £42, which was a bit much for me to part with for something that wasn’t going to be a staple piece. I’d been hoping and praying it would go into the sale and be in my size, and I actually let out a little yelp when I saw it had indeed! That went straight into my basket along with a cute ‘leather effect’ black skirt and a cord and rose gold bracelet. In my head, I’m imagining the top tucked into the black skirt with opaques and black platforms heels, but I have a feeling the fabric might not be quite right when I see it in the flesh.
There were quite a few other items I really liked, but I’m trying to be really selective about what I buy at the moment, so I left them to he snapped up by other shoppers!
This beautiful blue dress would look fab with sandals on a sunny summers evening, but I think would look equally cute with some opaques and platforms as the weather turns cooler. I also loved the cut-out detail on this denim shirt. The nude blazer I think would be a great piece for a a spring/ summer working wardrobe, and these two tops, in white and nude, would look so chic underneath.
Let me know in the comments section below if you buy anything, and how you plan to wear it!
